Facial massage has primarily a preventive action. Its main objective is to keep the skin and muscle in the state of elasticity and to prevent wrinkles. In facial massage we use gradation moves from mild, to stronger and stronger until the culminating point, after which the massage intensity gradually decreases. This massage gives a feeling of light warm-up, relaxation and pampering, the face becomes calmer and smoothed. The intensity of the massage, the duration, the amount and type of movements depend on the elasticity of the skin, the degree of muscle tension, fat layer and skin thickness.
Massage acts directly on the tissues and the movement causes the skin to turn pinkish color, it stimulates circulation and vasodilatation. This causes better tissue oxygenation, because it increases the arterial blood supply of the massaged area. Massage gently exfoliates the stratum corneum for the skin to breathe easier and for faster absorption of the treatment. The mechanism of irritation of the upper layers of the skin stimulates them to renew, strengthen elasticity of the skin and muscles, preventing the formation of wrinkles. The indirect action facial massage stimulates the general circulatory and lymphatic system, improves muscle and heart function, affects the nervous system and endocrine.
