Medical exfoliation for skin in need of renewal
Chemical peeling using trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is a recognized and widely used procedure in modern aesthetic dermatology. Its effectiveness is based on precisely controlled damage to the layers of the epidermis and dermis, leading to intensive regeneration, restructuring of the skin, and visible rejuvenation. TCA belongs to the group of medical peels, performed only by qualified specialists, and requires an individual therapeutic approach.
Our offer includes various variants of TCA peels, selected based on clinical indications and expected effects. The procedure can be performed at different depths – from superficial to deep – allowing for effective treatment of issues related to pigmentation, acne, scars, and signs of skin aging.
This is a procedure with high therapeutic potential, which – when properly selected and performed – provides the skin with multidimensional benefits: from improving its structure, through evening out the skin tone, to stimulating natural repair processes and collagen biosynthesis.
HOW DOES PEELIG TCA WORK?
TCA peeling is based on the controlled chemical action of trichloroacetic acid, which causes exfoliation of the epidermis and stimulates deeper skin layers to regenerate. Mechanism of action:
- TCA acid penetrates through the epidermis, causing protein coagulation in skin cells
- It leads to the detachment of damaged epidermal cells and parts of the dermis
- It stimulates fibroblasts to produce collagen and elastin, responsible for skin firmness
- It triggers skin self-regeneration processes, leading to thickening, smoothing, and brightening of the skin
- As a result, intense exfoliation occurs, followed by the rebuilding of fresh, healthier skin
WHEN TO USE TCA PEELING?
This treatment is recommended for individuals struggling with various skin problems – both aesthetic and dermatological. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, back, and hands. The indications for the procedure are:
- Sun-induced, hormonal (melasma), post-inflammatory pigmentation
- Mimic and static wrinkles – especially on the forehead, around the mouth, and eyes
- Dull, earthy, damaged skin – showing signs of photoaging
- Acne scars and skin irregularities
- Enlarged pores and excessive keratinization
- Oily, acne-prone skin – active or in remission
- Skin with loss of firmness and elasticity
TCA peel is a solution for both women and men – particularly effective for skin with visible signs of aging and pigmentation that are difficult to remove with other methods.
WHAT ARE THE EFFECTS OF TCA PEELING?
TCA peeling brings results already after the first treatment, and in a series allows for a deep skin reconstruction and significant improvement of its condition. Expected results:
- Smoothing wrinkles and improving skin tension
- Lightening of discoloration and evening out skin tone
- Reducing pore size and improving skin texture
- Reducing the visibility of acne scars
- Reducing acne lesions and sebum secretion
- Overall improvement in firmness, elasticity, and skin radiance
- "Rejuvenation" effect on the face - noticeably smoother, healthier, and fresher skin
The effects accumulate over time - the cell renewal process takes several weeks, so the full result is visible after about 4-6 weeks.
CONTRAINDICATIONS TO TCA PEELING
Not everyone is a suitable candidate for the procedure – prior to its execution, consultation with a specialist and a thorough assessment of the skin condition are necessary. Contraindications include:
- Active skin infections (e.g. herpes, fungal infections, bacterial inflammations)
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Hypersensitivity or allergy to TCA acid
- Autoimmune skin diseases (e.g. lupus)
- Oral retinoid therapy (e.g. isotretinoin – a minimum of 6 months break)
- Fresh tan or planned intense sun exposure
- Damaged skin, open wounds, inflammations
- Tendency to form scars
POST-OPERATIVE RECOMMENDATIONS
TCA peeling is a procedure that requires special care for the skin during the recovery period - the process of exfoliation and regeneration can last from a few days to several weeks, depending on the depth of the peel. Post-treatment care:
- Unconditional sun protection - daily use of SPF 50+ creams for a minimum of 4 weeks
- Moisturizing the skin - regenerating, soothing irritation, and rebuilding the hydrolipid barrier creams
- Avoiding sun exposure, saunas, pools, and intense physical exertion for at least 7 days
- Do not peel off the exfoliating skin - this can lead to scarring and discoloration
- Avoiding makeup for 3-5 days or longer (according to specialist recommendations)
- Gently cleansing the skin - without using peels and cosmetics with alcohol
- Using products recommended by the doctor - e.g. creams with panthenol, allantoin, ceramides
Expert opinion
TCA peeling, which involves using trichloroacetic acid, is one of the most effective ways to rebuild the skin, and has been used in aesthetic medicine for years. It works deeply and predictably - initiating controlled protein coagulation and strong tissue regeneration. This allows for a real improvement in skin structure: reducing wrinkles, smoothing acne scars, lightening discoloration, and evening out skin tone.
In my daily practice, I mainly use TCA peels in skin therapies showing signs of photoaging, loss of firmness, sun-induced or post-inflammatory pigmentation. It is also an effective tool for enlarged pores and a dull complexion. However, the key is to choose the right concentration - to precisely determine the depth of action and safely conduct the regeneration process.
The procedure itself requires experience, and the healing process requires patience. The skin peels intensely after a few days, but the results obtained after just one session are worth it. This method works deeply and long-term - not only smoothing the skin's surface, but stimulating real internal rebuilding.
