Which laser is most effective for hair removal?
Lasers are the most advanced technology used for hair removal. However, there are various solutions in this field that allow achieving the desired effects. Let's take a look at them to answer the question: which one is the best?
Types of lasers for depilation/epilation:
Technically speaking, these are not lasers, but rather photodepilation. This technology was one of the earliest breakthroughs in the market, quickly gaining popularity in beauty salons and aesthetic medicine clinics. Unfortunately, it was soon discovered that IPL lasers are significantly too weak to successfully conduct the epilation process. They have a broad spectrum of light, causing some of the energy to be lost on surrounding tissues, which greatly reduces the effectiveness of the treatment. At best, this technology leads to depilation, putting hair follicles to sleep for 1-3 years.
Alexandrite Lasers
These are quite effective devices, but their beam penetrates quite shallowly (the wavelength they emit is usually around 755 nm). They are typically used for laser depilation, although newer models may also be effective for epilation.
These are among the most effective lasers for successful and long-lasting epilation. Their beam (from 800 nm) is strongly absorbed by melanin and converted into heat energy, permanently damaging the hair follicle and resulting in epilation. Diode lasers are considered the best option for painless or minimally painful laser epilation treatments. At Ambasada Urody, a diode laser is used, allowing for painless laser epilation treatments.
These are also very effective, but their beams penetrate with high intensity very deeply, causing much greater pain sensations compared to diode lasers.
At Ambasada Urody in Warsaw, we use the MEdiostar Next Pro diode laser for painless laser epilation. It emits double wavelengths of light, allowing for action at different depths and skin phototypes. Additionally, its cooling system and continuous operation mode enable an effective, fast, and painless treatment.
