Mulligan therapy

This system, created by Brian Mulligan, a New Zealand physiotherapist, is a specialized diagnostic and therapeutic method that involves a combination of passive movement performed by the therapist and active movement performed by the patient (the patient is not passive during the therapy, but actively participates in it). Collaboration of the treated person with the therapist is vital for the management of pain during exercise and how to go through daily activities in a way that does not provoke the recurrence of symptoms.

The active and passive range of motion is evaluated together with the determination of final sensation, “articular slide”, the strength and flexibility of muscles because the increased range of motion and decreased pain indicate the treatment is in the right direction.
