Regenera Activa is a regenerative medicine treatment that allows us to fight alopecia and excessive hair loss. The system uses autologous cell transplant where the patient is both donor and recipient.
Androgenetic alopecia occurs due to the sensitivity of the hair follicles to androgens. It is the most common cause of hair loss and occurs in 70% of men, who usually have a recession in the hairline at the temples (receding hairline) and baldness at the apex. This process often leads to complete baldness.
The problem of alopecia does not bypass women (40% of women at some point in their lives) and usually manifests itself as diffuse thinning at the top of the head. An additional factor influencing this defect in women - apart from the excess of androgens - is the disturbed proportion of female and male sex hormones. In women, obesity, hypothyroidism and hormonal contraception also contribute to hair loss. Hair gradually weakens (then the hair becomes thinner and weaker - this is the first symptom of alopecia), at the same time the anagen phase is significantly shortened, and the telogen phase is lengthened, which makes the hair grow slower and shorter.
Regenerative medicine and its intensive development in recent years have brought us new possibilities in the regeneration of tissues and organs. In aesthetic medicine, we have so far been able to use, for example, platelet-rich plasma and regenerative cells obtained from adipose tissue.
For the last 10 years, the team of prof. Antonio Graziano from the Medical University of Turin worked on a system that allows specific tissues and organs to be regenerated using progenitor (precursor) cells obtained from exactly the same organs and tissues. This is how the Regenera Activa system was created, which is now used in addition to orthopedics and traumatology to treat androgenic alopecia.
Regenera Activa is a specially designed system that uses an autologous transplant of skin cells. During a single session, the patient is both a donor and transplant recipient. The site to be treated is stimulated with progenitor cells obtained from the site where the graft is collected, which is always exactly the same tissue that is later treated. Therefore, when performing the procedure in the area of the scalp in the treatment of androgenic alopecia, the material for the micro-transplant is taken from the hairy scalp. The Regenera Activa device allows the recovery of approximately 80% of cells from the collected biopsies, capable of tissue regeneration.
The Regenera Activa® treatment is extremely simple and usually takes 20-30 minutes.
The Regenera Activa treatment is performed only once in a single session. It is not necessary to perform this treatment in series. The first results can be observed after 30-60 days. However, it depends on the individual regenerative abilities of the patient. The next treatment can be performed after about two or three years to prevent further hair loss and the progression of androgenic alopecia.
Regenera Activa has been proven to work in the case of adrogenic alopecia. Therefore, it is imperative that the diagnosis is made correctly before proceeding with the procedure. For this purpose, we invite you to a consultation during which a dermoscopic examination of the scalp will be carried out.
