Manual facial cleansing
Thorough skin cleansing is ideal for any complexion, regardless of its type. When we are young, the common issue is seborrhea and over the years, the cycle of renewal of the epidermis is greatly extended, causing deterioration in the functioning and appearance of the skin. As a result of thicker and thicker layer of dead skin cells, our skin cannot breathe properly, it becomes dry and gray with a lot of blackheads.
WHEN TO USE
- Seasonal worsened skin condition - e.g. after winter, when the skin is dry and dull, or in summer, when increased sebum production leads to clogged pores.
- Clogged pores and tendency to develop blackheads - regular cleansing helps prevent their accumulation and the development of inflammatory conditions.
- Under-oxygenated, dull skin - tired skin, exposed to urban factors, and in need of oxygenation and improved microcirculation.
- Tired skin, exposed to urban factors - smog, dust, and other pollutants settle on the skin, worsening its condition and contributing to the formation of breakouts.
- Hormonal issues affecting skin condition - e.g. during puberty, pregnancy, or hormonal changes, when the skin produces more sebum and imperfections appear.
- Increased exposure to makeup and colored cosmetics - daily use of heavy makeup can burden the skin, leading to clogged pores and breakouts.
- Prolonged stress and unhealthy lifestyle - lack of sleep, poor diet, stress, and substance use can impact the skin's condition, causing deterioration and increased tendency for imperfections.
- People who frequently use the gym or are physically active - excessive sweating and contact with bacteria (e.g. on gym equipment) can contribute to skin contamination and the development of acne.
Manual facial cleansing is an effective way to restore a healthy look to the skin, especially when dealing with imperfections, excess sebum, and pollutants.

Contraindications for manual facial cleansing
Despite many benefits, manual facial cleansing is not suitable for everyone. In some cases, it can lead to irritation, exacerbate skin problems, or worsen the skin condition.
- Active herpes - there is a risk of spreading the virus to other parts of the face.
- Rosacea - sensitive and overactive skin may react poorly to the treatment, leading to redness and irritation.
- Very sensitive and overactive skin - may not tolerate intense cleansing, which can result in severe irritation.
- Fresh wounds, abrasions, and cuts on the skin - may pose a risk of infection and hinder the healing process.
- Dermatological diseases (psoriasis, eczema, atopic dermatitis) - may worsen symptoms and exacerbate the condition.
- Capillary skin and tendency to teleangiectasia (spider veins) - the treatment may cause them to rupture and intensify redness.
- Recent aesthetic procedures - such as chemical peels, laser therapy, mesotherapy - the skin needs to regenerate and should not be subjected to additional irritation.
- Pregnancy (in some cases) - especially if the skin is more sensitive or prone to pigmentation.
If in doubt, it is always worth consulting a cosmetologist to choose the appropriate cleansing method tailored to the individual needs of the skin.
