FRACTIONAL SKIN RESURFACING PALOMAR MEDICAL
Laser skin resurfacing (laser lifting) is based on non-surgical reduction of the effects of aging and various types of skin ailments with a minimum recovery period. Resurfacing is the renewal and reconstruction of the skin. It consists in rejuvenating the external damaged layers of the skin and remodeling deeper layers.
Thanks to fractional skin resurfacing with Palomar Medical lasers, we can treat many types of skin disorders and ailments, both dermatological and cosmetic. This intelligent solution uses micro-bundles to create zones of damaged tissue surrounded by healthy tissue. This allows you to achieve excellent aesthetic results, while reducing the risk of side effects of the treatment and allowing the skin to heal faster.
HOW IT WORKS?
Palomar Medical's fractional skin resurfacing involves the use of laser energy micro-beams that create zones of damaged tissue that extend through the epidermis into the skin. These zones can be "non-ablative" (the laser beam coagulates damaged tissue but does not destroy the outer layers of the skin) or "ablative" (the laser beam dissolves damaged tissue).
Non-ablative procedures allow for a very quick return to full functionality, while ablative procedures are one-time. The skin's natural healing processes create healthy new tissue that fills the columns damaged by coagulation. The end result is healthier, younger-looking skin.
Palomar's new ablative technology, the Groove lens, creates a unique, grooved pattern on the skin, increasing ablative tissue coverage while retaining the benefits of fractional column technique.

Expert opinion
In my clinical practice, ablative skin resurfacing with an erbium 2940 nm laser is one of the most advanced tools of conscious anti-aging therapy. It is a technology of exceptional precision — thanks to its high affinity for water it enables controlled removal of microlayers of the skin while simultaneously initiating intensive regenerative processes in its deeper structures.
From a physician’s perspective, the quality of the remodeling we achieve is crucial. The skin becomes noticeably firmer, denser, and structurally more organized. I observe a reduction in wrinkles, smoothing of the surface, decreased visibility of pores, and an evening of skin tone. This is the result of biological renewal, not merely an optical improvement.
A major advantage of this technology is the ability to precisely adjust the depth and intensity of the procedure to the skin’s needs — from therapies that improve texture to advanced remodeling procedures. This allows us to address both signs of aging and changes such as scars or sun damage, while maintaining full control over the process.
This is a solution for patients seeking a clear, qualitative change in their skin and consciously choosing a therapy that is based on real tissue remodeling. In experienced hands, the 2940 nm laser remains one of the most effective tools in modern aesthetic medicine.
