Facial massage is primarily a preventive measure. Its main purpose is to keep the skin and muscles flexible and to prevent wrinkles.
The facial massage uses gradual movements from gentle, introductory to increasingly strong, to the climax, after which the intensity of the massage gradually decreases. Such a massage gives a feeling of slightly warming up and relaxing, the face becomes calmer and smooth. The intensity of the massage, its duration, number and type of movements depend on the elasticity of the skin, the degree of muscle tone, the thickness of the fatty litter and the thickness of the skin.
The massage directly affects the tissues that are massaged, and the movements cause skin pinking, stimulation of circulation and dilatation of blood vessels. This results are better oxygenation of the tissue, because the arterial blood supply to the massaged areas increases. The massage slightly exfoliates the stratum corneum, facilitating skin breathing and faster absorption of the preparations used. The mechanism of irritating the upper layers of the skin stimulates them to renew, strengthens the elasticity of the skin and muscles, preventing the formation of wrinkles. Indirectly, facial massage generally stimulates the circulatory and lymphatic systems, improves muscle and heart function, as well as affects the nervous and endocrine systems.
