What is the micro-needle radiofrequency treatment DeAgeEx based on?

25.03.2026
With age, the skin loses collagen, and with it firmness and tension — wrinkles appear, the facial contour sags, and the complexion loses its radiance. Microneedle radiofrequency combines skin needling with the action of radiofrequency (RF) waves, reaching depths from 0.3 mm to 3.5 mm. This non-surgical lift provides wrinkle reduction and skin smoothing — without a scalpel and long recovery. Find out how it works and who it can help!

Key facts about the procedure:

  • Mechanism of action: microneedles + radiofrequency waves stimulate the production of collagen and elastin in the deep layers of the skin
  • Duration: a single session takes from 30 to 90 minutes, the procedure is performed under local anesthesia
  • Effects: full skin remodeling visible after 2–3 months, results can last up to 2 years
  • Recovery: mild redness and swelling subside within 1–3 days
How does the combination of microneedles and radiofrequency work in the DeAgeEx device?

DeAgeEx is a South Korean-made device that enables a procedure combining two technologies: skin microneedling and radiofrequency. The combination of both methods multiplies their effect - the procedure is often called a non-surgical facelift or a scalpel-free lift.

Microneedling - precision at a chosen depth

Microneedling is a procedure involving fractional injury to the epidermis and deeper layers of the skin through a large number of punctures with thin needles. In the DeAgeEx device there are as many as 49 micro-needles, and they can penetrate to depths between 0.5 and 3.5 mm. This allows the specialist performing the procedure to reach the appropriate depth depending on the patient's needs. This stimulates skin remodeling processes and causes the newly formed cells to create a proper skin structure, making it visibly younger.

Radiofrequency - stimulating collagen from within

Radiofrequency waves are capable of very effectively stimulating fibroblasts to produce collagen. It is the collagen fibers that keep the skin properly taut and prevent it from stretching. With age there is less and less collagen in the skin - it becomes lax, the facial contour sags, and so-called jowls or a hanging double chin form. Sound familiar? That is why stimulating fibroblasts is key in the fight against skin aging.

The micro-needles first disrupt the continuity of the skin, reaching the deeper layers, and the emission of radiofrequency waves occurs directly there. Under the influence of the current, the needles heat up and cause microdamage to the skin structure while bypassing the epidermis. This prevents loss of energy at the surface - achieving a better effect requires a smaller dose of energy.

Spectrum of therapeutic indications for the face and body

Radiofrequency microneedling is effective not only on the face and neck. The procedure is also successfully used on the body - primarily on the abdomen, arms and thighs - to reduce skin laxity and improve its firmness. It is also an effective method to support the treatment of cellulite and reduce stretch marks.

Most common indications for the procedure:

  • Face and neck: reduction of wrinkles, crow's feet, improvement of facial contour, elimination of enlarged pores, alleviation of symptoms of rosacea
  • Scars: smoothing of post-acne scars and postoperative scars
  • Skin tone: evening out the skin's texture, lightening of discoloration and improving overall tone
  • Body: firming of lax skin on the abdomen, arms and thighs, reduction of cellulite
  • Hyperhidrosis: permanent reduction of sweat gland activity
Procedure protocol and patient comfort in the clinic

Radiofrequency microneedling is one of the most effective aesthetic medicine procedures, combining precision with comfort. The standard procedure lasts from 30 to 90 minutes — depending on the size of the treated area and the number of passes with the handpiece. Before starting, local anesthesia in the form of a cream is applied to the skin, which takes effect for about 30 minutes. Thanks to this, the procedure itself is well tolerated even by people with a low pain threshold.

The cost of a single session ranges from 1350 zł to 2800 zł depending on the chosen body area. At Ambasadzie Urody, our specialists tailor the DeAgeEx device settings individually to each patient's needs, taking into account skin thickness, the type of problem and the expected results.

Session frequency and long-term outcomes

A full skin remodel requires a series of 3–5 treatments at intervals of 4–6 weeks. The skin needs time to initiate regenerative processes and the full repair cascade — therefore the remodeling effect is visible only 2–3 months after the last session. Results in the form of noticeable skin firming and increased tissue density persist from 12 months up to even 2 years.

Rejuvenation effects can be further intensified by combining radiofrequency microneedling with complementary treatments. A combination with platelet-rich plasma or mesotherapy works particularly well, as these provide the skin with additional nutrients and accelerate regenerative processes.

Recovery period and at-home skin care

Recovery after microneedle radiofrequency is short. A natural mild redness and swelling typically subside within 1–3 days - most patients return to daily activities as soon as the next day. During this period, however, the skin requires special protection and appropriate care.

Key post-procedure recommendations:

  • Sun protection: use sunscreens with SPF 30–50 for at least 4 weeks after the procedure
  • Intensive moisturizing: regularly apply products that support skin regeneration
  • Avoidance of thermal stimuli: refrain from sauna, pools, and hot baths for several days
  • Limit physical activity: avoid intense exercise for 2–3 days after the session
Clinical contraindications to the use of the technology

Despite its high safety profile, microneedle radiofrequency is not suitable for every patient. Before the procedure, the specialist conducts a detailed medical history to rule out any potential contraindications.

When the procedure cannot be performed:

  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding
  • Oncological diseases
  • Active infections and inflammatory skin conditions
  • Rosacea in the exacerbation phase
  • Metal implants in the treatment area
  • Pacemaker or other implanted electronic devices

Thermal parameters and stimulation of the deep layers of the skin

During a microneedle radiofrequency procedure, thermal energy heats the deep layers of tissue to a temperature of 40–70°C. This controlled rise in temperature triggers the process of thermocoagulation — the precise damage of old collagen fibers, which the body replaces with new ones. The result is neocollagenesis, i.e., an intense production of fresh collagen and elastin in the dermis.

The gold-plated needles used in the DeAgeEx device are additionally insulated, which protects the epidermis from overheating. Thermal energy reaches only the target depth, providing precise stimulation of collagen synthesis without the risk of superficial burns. Due to its strong firming and lifting effect, this treatment is often referred to as thermolifting — a non-surgical method of restoring a youthful appearance to the skin.

Effective non-surgical rejuvenation

Radiofrequency microneedling enables visible lifting and rejuvenating effects without the need to undergo surgery. The combination of microneedling with radiofrequency waves stimulates the skin's natural repair processes, restoring its firmness and smoothness. It is advisable to consult a specialist to choose the appropriate treatment protocol for individual needs.
