Acne is one of the most common skin diseases. During adolescence, it occurs in various clinical varieties. For most patients, the changes disappear between the age of 22 and 23, but it also occurs in adulthood.
In acne, as a result of the excessive secretion of sebum and keratosis of the epidermis at the mouths of the hair follicles, there is a blockage of the sebaceous glands (skin pores). This creates a basis for the sebum remaining in the gland, the development of inflammation and suppuration. Eventually, as a result of inflammation, the skin breaks down and scars form.
