The name peeling comes from the English word 'peel' (exfoliate) and consists of the controlled removal of cosmetic and disease changes within the epidermis or in the epidermis and dermis at the same time. An appropriate mixture of chemical compounds in a certain concentration is applied to the skin, which penetrate deep into the skin, positively influencing its functioning.
Medium-deep and deep medical peels are procedures that burden the patient more than superficial peels and can only be performed by a trained doctor. In this method, intense exfoliation of the epidermal layers is observed.
Medical peels are considered a good, minimally invasive alternative that allows you to maintain a healthy, aesthetically beautiful, more resistant to signs of aging skin.
Medical peels are indicated for various skin problems. They are used in the treatment of seborrhoeic skin, acne skin with acne changes such as scars and discoloration after inflammation. They effectively eliminate fine mimic wrinkles, sun lines and skin unevenness, as well as sun and hormonal discoloration or keratosis disorders.
It is worth to undergo medical peels not only in case of skin problems, but also as a prevention in order to delay the aging process and prevent premature wrinkles.
On the first day after the procedure, an erythema gradually turning brown is observed. The swelling persists up to 48 hours after the procedure. Both erythema and swelling gradually subside, and the exfoliated skin surface becomes crusted. In some cases, blisters may form, rupture and crust over within a week. The separation of the scab begins between days 4 and 8 after surgery and ends between days 7 and 12 after surgery. During the healing period, the skin may change its color from intense red through various shades of brown to dark brown. The correct color of the skin returns only after the epidermis has completely peeled off. Occasionally, the period of swelling and erythema extends up to 30-60 days. Due to the high potential for irritation and infection, patients should use very gentle cleansing agents until the skin has healed completely and avoid mechanical irritation. To avoid discoloration, use complete protection against UV radiation for at least 30 days. The face may be covered with makeup.
The aim of medical peels is to refresh, smooth and regenerate the skin, reduce wrinkles, spots and discoloration, acne scars, seborrhea, enlarged pores, rejuvenation, stimulation and revitalization of the skin.
