How can thousands of tiny punctures help your skin? Microneedling mesotherapy

25.03.2026
After the age of 25 the skin gradually loses collagen — wrinkles, enlarged pores and loss of density are the result of this irreversible process. Microneedling mesotherapy is an advanced aesthetic medicine treatment — thousands of controlled punctures trigger the skin’s natural regeneration and visibly rejuvenate it, initiating deep tissue remodeling without the need for injections. Find out why it is one of the most effective stimuli for natural skin renewal!
Natural self-regeneration and remodeling of skin structure

Microneedling mesotherapy works by precisely triggering the healing cascade. A device fitted with sterile cartridges — like those used in Dermapen — performs thousands of controlled punctures, creating microchannels to a depth of up to 3 millimeters. Each of these micro-injuries is an alarm signal to the body: the skin immediately mobilizes fibroblasts and stem cells for intensive repair work.

Activated fibroblasts produce collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid — the three pillars of youthful, elastic skin. This process — called collagen induction therapy (CIT) — leads to permanent tissue remodeling: the epidermis thickens, the dermis becomes denser, and its collagen network is rebuilt.

Collagen synthesis continues for several weeks after the procedure, which is why results build gradually. Enhanced cellular renewal improves the skin's density and tone, which had previously been reduced by age and environmental factors. After completing the series, results last for many months, which distinguishes microneedling from treatments that provide only temporary improvement.

Spectrum of activity on the face, body and hair-bearing scalp

The most common indications for microneedling mesotherapy:

  • Wrinkles and fine expression lines - smoothing and improved facial skin firmness
  • Enlarged pores - evening out texture and increasing skin density
  • Post-acne scars - breaking down fibrotic tissue and restoring a healthy skin tone
  • Stretch marks and cellulite - improving skin firmness on the abdomen, thighs, and bust
  • Hyperpigmentation - evening out skin tone and reducing pigment spots

Hair loss is an area in which microneedling has documented effectiveness. Stimulation of hair follicles and improvement of scalp microcirculation supports the treatment of alopecia and reduces excessive shedding. When combined with an appropriate ampoule, the results of a series of treatments are noticeable after just a few weeks. The procedure is safe for all skin types - including sensitive, thin, and capillary-prone skin.

Enhancing effects through active substances and combination therapies

The microchannels created during the procedure are an express route for active ingredients. Vitamin cocktails, hyaluronic acid, peptides, growth factors, amino acids and regenerative ampoules penetrate deep into the tissue with many times greater effectiveness than with classic topical application. The skin absorbs active ingredients faster and deeper, making the effects of nourishment and hydration much more pronounced. Ambasada Urody uses this property in Dermapen 4 microneedling mesotherapy treatments, selecting preparations individually to the needs of each patient's skin.

The results of the procedure can be further intensified by combining microneedling with other methods. Chemical peels and microdermabrasion applied at the right time deepen cellular renewal and even out skin tone. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is one of the most powerful effect boosters - it contains growth factors that intensively stimulate regeneration.

Specificity of the procedure compared to classical injection methods

Microneedle mesotherapy and traditional needle mesotherapy are two different approaches that should be distinguished before making a decision. Classical mesotherapy involves the targeted administration of nourishing substances directly into the skin using thin needles - the emphasis is on the chemical action of the cocktail delivered to a precisely defined depth. Microneedling - that is, microneedling - draws its strength primarily from the mechanical stimulus: thousands of micro-injuries trigger remodeling independently of the product. Both mechanisms can be combined into a single procedure, producing a synergistic effect.

Session procedure and anesthesia

Before the procedure the specialist applies a topical anesthetic cream with lidocaine, which provides local anesthesia - allowing approximately 30-45 minutes and effectively minimizing tingling and burning during needling. The depth of the punctures is precisely adjusted - from 0.5 mm for gentle revitalization up to 3 mm when working on scars and stretch marks. Treatment on delicate areas, such as the eye area, requires a different setting than treatment on thicker facial or body skin.

A single session is merely the start of the regeneration process - the skin needs time to respond to the stimulus. To achieve optimal and lasting effects a series of 3 to 8 treatments at intervals of 3-6 weeks is necessary - each subsequent session reinforces the effects of the previous one and deepens tissue remodeling.

Qualification for the procedure and safety profile for different skin types

The procedure initiates a controlled inflammatory response - this is not a mistake, but an intentional regenerative mechanism. The epidermal barrier is temporarily disrupted, which is a desired stage of the whole process. That is why proper qualification is so important: the specialist assesses the condition of the skin, medications taken, and overall health before the first session.

Note that mild couperose, sensitive, or thin skin does not exclude the procedure - it only requires adjusting the needle depth and choosing gentler preparations. Skin with post-acne hyperpigmentation, chickenpox scars, or mature skin with laxity responds excellently to microneedling. The procedure can be safely performed year-round - however, meticulous use of UV protection after each session is essential.

Contraindications:

  • Active herpes or other bacterial skin infections in the treatment area
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding - the procedure is absolutely contraindicated in these cases
  • Active inflammatory conditions, pustular acne, or open skin lesions
  • Skin diseases requiring pharmacological treatment in the affected area
  • Use of medications that increase the risk of bleeding without consultation with the treating physician
Guidelines for preparing the body and proper post-procedure care

Proper preparation 7–10 days before your appointment:

  • Stop using retinoids and exfoliating acids (AHA, BHA) in your at-home skincare
  • Avoid anticoagulant medications (if allowed by your treating physician)
  • Limit sun exposure and avoid using tanning beds
  • Refrain from mechanical peels and exfoliating procedures
  • Ensure adequate hydration and avoid alcohol on the day of the procedure

After the procedure the skin goes through a natural regeneration phase. Immediately after the session there is redness and erythema; swelling, tenderness, minor bruising and microbleeding (pinpoint bleeding) may occur — this is a normal reaction to controlled microinjuries. Within 1–3 days micro-crusts and skin peeling may appear — do not remove or pick at them. Avoid makeup for 24–48 hours, and for 7 days avoid saunas, swimming pools and intense physical exercise.

Use an SPF 50 sunscreen without fail for at least several weeks after the procedure. The peeling skin is much more sensitive to UV radiation, and skipping protection may lead to hyperpigmentation and disturbances of pigmentation. Home skincare should for several days consist exclusively of soothing products without acids and retinoids.

Microneedle mesotherapy - an effective start to the renewal process

Microneedling does not mask the signs of aging - it reverses them from within. If you are looking for a procedure that combines effectiveness with safety and minimal recovery time, we invite you to a consultation with a specialist at Ambasada Urody - together we will choose the optimal treatment plan for your needs.
