Treatment for bruxism

Bruxism is a type of disease associated with sleep disorders. It usually occurs at night, although the symptoms can also be noticed during the day. Sick patients are usually the ones with hypersensitivity to stress, diagnosed with increased nervous tension. Bruxism is also associated with malocclusion and mastication muscle disorder.

If left untreated, bruxism can lead to severe malocclusion and other health problems.

• Wear and abrasion of teeth
• Teeth grinding during sleep
• Visible dental roots
• Bleeding while brushing teeth
• Pain in the masseter and temporal muscle attachment
• Increased tension of the shoulder muscle
• Pain in the back, head, neck, abdomen, hearing problems

Bruxism can be treated with botulinum toxin. It’s a safe, fast in action and highly effective method. Using injections, botulinum toxin can slow down the cheek muscle force. They are being blocked for up to 6 months. As a result, the nerve impulse does not reach the muscles and doesn’t cause its overreaction.

The treatment only works within the muscle, where botox was used, which does not affect the work of other muscles.
